Shu Fen graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Warwick in 2014. She was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2016. Shu Fen is also a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and is a Professional Deputy and Donee registered with the Office of the Public Guardian, a division of the Ministry of Social and Family Development.
Her areas of practice include Divorce, Guardianship, Adoption, Child Custody issues, Estate Administration (including applications for the Grant of Probate, Grant of Letters of Administration and Re-sealing applications), Estate/ Succession Planning (including the drafting of Wills and preparation of Lasting Power of Attorney) and applications under the Mental Capacity Act.
Shu Fen handles both contentious and non-contentious matters and has been involved in applications to the Court of Appeal on novel legal issues. She is also one of the authors for the LexisNexis Singapore Family Law Practice Guidance notes; in particular, notes relating to the divorce process and maintenance applications.
Shu Fen has also been actively involved in pro bono work and volunteers for legal clinics. She also advises parents who have children with special needs and assists in their application to be Court-appointed Deputies.

1) BOI V BOJ [2018] SGCA 16; [2019] SGCA 30
Key issue – what is a just and equitable division of the matrimonial assets; in particular, whether a lottery win is a matrimonial asset and if so, how should it be attributed to parties.
2) UVJ & 2 Ors v UVH & 4 Ors [2020] SGCA 49
Key issue – duties and obligations owed by Executors to beneficiaries of an Estate. This matter involved a novel point of law in relation to the taking of an Estate Account.
